James Township has revised its water rate structure based on our continuing efforts to keep our water rates reasonable and being able to meet expenses in the Water Department. There will be no minimum rate. You will be billed on Consumption as follows:
SERVICE CHARGES.
Except as herein otherwise provided, water to be furnished by the system to each premises served by the system shall be measured by a meter equipped with electronics which allow the Water Superintendent to drive by and read your meter once every three months (3 months). Fees will be as follows:
RTS fee + Quarterly consumption (usage) charge + Late fees (if applicable)
Example typical residential, ¾ “ connection: RTS $40.00 + Consumption fee of $5.50 per thousand gallons used, paid quarterly + any penalties.
Services discontinued for non-payment shall not be restored until all sums then due and owing, including penalties, shall be paid.
There will be a shut off charge of $50.00 and a turn-on charge of $50.00.
James Township residents are billed quarterly for their water. The water bill is divided into 2 categories: fixed costs (called “readiness to serve”) and variable costs (called “usage”). The fixed portion of the rate is used to cover fixed costs associated with maintaining the system. The usage portion of the rate is used to cover the variable costs of providing the services to our residents. Usage is billed per 1,000 gallons of water used during a 3 month period. The readiness to serve fee is determined by the meter size of a home. Most homes in James Township have a 3/4-inch or 1 inch meter.
